Here is the Oatmeal Cookie Recipe from Mary Lou.

“Mom’s Oatmeal Cookies”

1/2 cup shortening, 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla.

Cream these ingredients in a bowl together and then add the mixture of 1tsp.baking soda that’s been dissolved in 4 tsp. of hot water.

Stir in dried ingredients…1 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp. salt and 2 cups of rolled oats.

When dough is mixed well, form cookies into small balls (36 to 48) . Put balls onto cookie sheet and using a fork press down on each cookie gently.

Bake at 400 degree F for 5 minutes.
